Is the president's refusal to continue in his post—after the majority demanded him to do so due to the absence of an alternative—considered a sin, despite his knowledge of the hardship and cost of the work?

The existence of charitable organizations is a recommended righteous act, and it may become obligatory if they undertake communal obligations (fard al-kifaya), such as aiding the distressed and feeding the needy, because these are matters of public benefit for which one is rewarded. As for resigning from the presidency of an organization, it is permissible in principle. However, if its activity is essential and there is no one else to carry it out except the questioner, then it may become obligatory for him to continue, according to his ability, while taking into consideration the alleviation of the burden on him. We remind the questioner that Allah has singled out certain people with blessings for the benefit of His servants, so whoever withholds them will lose them. And whoever, when Allah has made the needs of people dependent on him, becomes annoyed, has exposed this blessing to removal.
