If the husband expends his utmost effort in honoring his mother, treating her kindly, and providing for her, then he is dutiful towards her. The wife is not obligated to live with her mother-in-law, and an independent dwelling is her right. She is not required to leave her home for the mother-in-law to live there unless the husband provides her with another home. All expenses are the husband's responsibility.
