Is it permissible to address teachers with the word "Sir," which means "my master"?

It is forbidden to say "Sayyidi" (my master/sir) to a teacher or a brother, because the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The Master is Allah, blessed and exalted is He." Also, because it may cause conceit and arrogance in the recipient, and it is more appropriate to address him by his kunya (agnomen), name, or titles that do not lead to exaggeration.
