What is the ruling on a person working in an internet café that allows people to access websites of unmanifested disbelief (kufr), without warning them against it? And is it obligatory to leave an assembly where the owner of the center was heard justifying falsehood to a person who does not display religiosity, such as an unveiled girl, by saying, "You have the right to do that" for copying a file of unknown content?
The internet has positive and negative aspects, and it can be controlled if it is for personal and family use. However, managing a public internet center, which is frequented by various people, makes it difficult to control its uses. If the worker is able to prevent access to corrupt websites and forbidden chats, then the work is permissible. But if he does not warn or prevent access to disbelief sites, then his work is not permissible, because one who remains silent about evil is a partner in sin. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever among you sees an evil, let him change it with his hand; if he is unable, then with his tongue; if he is unable, then with his heart, and that is the weakest of faith." And: "Indeed, when people see evil and do not denounce it, Allah is about to encompass them all with His punishment." Furthermore, sitting in such places without changing the evil is forbidden, due to the Almighty's saying: "And He has already revealed to you in the Book that when you hear the verses of Allah being denied and ridiculed, then do not sit with them until they engage in another conversation. Indeed, in that case, you would be like them."
