The answer

Yusuf (peace be upon him) was afflicted with the envy of his brothers, his separation from his father, his being cast into the well, his being sold for a paltry price, his being accused of theft, his enslavement, the trial of the wife of Al-Aziz, and his remaining in prison. Allah raises the ranks of His servants through trials, and the most severely tested are the prophets. Allah chooses what is best for His servants and compensates them with good, and He elevated Yusuf's status and granted him power in the land. Some scholars have mentioned that among the forbidden matters of the tongue is engaging in mentioning the harms that befell the prophets, except in a scholarly discussion with those who are trusted not to fall into error regarding the prophets.
