Is a working, unmarried girl obligated to pay her mother for her food and drink, and is it permissible for the mother to compel her daughter to work to support herself despite the father's financial well-being?

The father's financial support for his daughter, even if she is able to earn, is obligatory. She is not obliged to work as long as it is possible to dispense with it, because a woman's work nowadays may not be free from forbidden things. Thus, the mother does not have the right to compel her daughter to continue working if there is no necessity. The mother should fear Allah and thank Him for the blessing of a husband who has made them independent of jobs that might expose them to harm, for a woman's decision to stay in her home is more protective for her.
