Is it permissible to lie to my smoking brother by saying "I don't have money" in order to avoid helping him buy cigarettes?

It is not permissible to give money to one's brother if it is known that he will use it to buy cigarettes, as this constitutes cooperation in sin. Euphemisms can be used, such as saying, "I don't have money," intending that this applies to the purpose of smoking. In euphemisms, there is a way out of lying, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Indeed, in euphemisms, there is a way out of lying." One must continue to advise him and explain the impermissibility and harm of smoking. If there is no way to avoid his request except by lying, then it is permissible.
