What is the status of the Twelve Imams of the Shia, especially the later ones among them?

The Rawafid or the Twelvers are one of the Shia sects. They were named thus either for their rejection of the Imamate of the two Shaykhs (Abu Bakr and Umar) or for their claim of the Imamate of twelve men from the Household of the Prophet (Ahl al-Bayt). They were also called Imamiyyah due to their emphasis on the issue of the Imamate. They hold beliefs that contradict what the people of Islam adhere to, among them: exaggeration in the veneration of their Imams and directing acts of worship to them, the belief in the distortion of the Quran, declaring the Companions as disbelievers, attributing "Bada'" (change in God's will) to Allah, the belief in Taqiyyah (dissimulation), and the belief in Raj'ah (the return of the Imams). These corrupt beliefs demonstrate the falsehood of this school of thought and its opposition to the Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jama'ah (People of the Sunnah and the Community). Their Imams, to whom they attribute themselves, are innocent of these fabrications.
