What is the ruling on purchasing products that contain bovine gelatin if the manufacturer buys the gelatin from a Chinese company that holds a Sharia compliance certificate from an Islamic association?

If the gelatin is sourced from an animal slaughtered according to Islamic law (dhabihah), such as cattle, then it is permissible to import and consume it. However, if it is taken from an animal not slaughtered according to Islamic law, or from carrion, or from a pig, then it is not permissible. The slaughtered animals of the People of the Book are permissible, but it is common for the populations of Western countries not to be People of the Book, so the default ruling for their slaughtered animals is impermissibility. However, if trustworthy individuals testify that a specific institution adheres to Islamic regulations in its slaughtering, then there is no objection to purchasing their slaughtered animals. Therefore, if you are certain of the trustworthiness of those in charge of the organization that vouched for the company, then there is no harm in importing gelatin from it, although it is more cautious to limit oneself to what is unequivocally permissible.
