Which is more deserving: 'Aqiqah for oneself, or for a son who has not reached puberty?

It is better to prioritize the aqiqah for your son as long as he has not reached puberty, because the obligation for it continues until he reaches puberty, and because it is more emphasized for you than your aqiqah for yourself. The aqiqah is Sunnah on the seventh day; if that is missed, then on the fourteenth; and if that is missed, then on the twenty-first. If no aqiqah was performed for him at all and he reached puberty, should he perform aqiqah for himself? Scholars have differed on this: some believe that he should not perform aqiqah for himself because the Sunnah in this case is for someone else, while others believe that he should perform aqiqah for himself. The aqiqah is a Sunnah and not obligatory.
