It is permissible for a husband to give his wife whatever he wishes from his wealth. If your father gave her money and deposited it into her account, it became her property, to dispose of as she pleases. If she dies, this money will be part of her estate.
This differs from a bequest to an heir, which is not executed unless all heirs agree.
If the mother bought a house with her own money, then this house is her property and becomes part of her estate upon her death, to be inherited by all her heirs.
