Is it permissible to sell the marital home and residence to pay off old debts, knowing that the creditors are not demanding them, and that the seller will rent another house for his family and they may not be able to pay the rent in the event of his death?

There is no harm in selling the house to pay off debt if you are able to rent another and will not harm those you support. You are not obliged to do so unless the creditors demand it or the matter is brought before a judge.

The insolvent debtor should be granted a delay, and it is recommended to give charity to him by forgiving his debt.

If an insolvent person is interdicted, his dwelling, clothes, and sustenance should be left for him.

If the debtor dies and there is nothing in his estate to pay off his debt, his property is sold and distributed among the creditors.

Whoever borrowed with the intention of repaying, then became unable to do so without negligence, bears no accountability in the hereafter.
