Is it obligatory to adhere to the schools of Islamic jurisprudence according to the Shafi'is, along with the evidence?

It is permissible for a layperson to follow one of the four jurisprudential schools of thought, or others that have been documented and served, such as the four schools, as explicitly stated by the Shafi'is. It is permissible for a non-mujtahid (one who is not qualified to deduce legal rulings) to follow any mujtahid he wishes, provided that the schools of thought are documented, and he may switch from one school to another. This applies to those for whom imitation (taqlid) is permissible.
