Is a wife considered suspended or divorced if her husband abandons her and refuses to divorce her through another contract, while also preventing her from visiting her family? Is she entitled to seek stability, education, and work?

The husband has fallen into Sharia violations, including: not being just between his wives in division and lodging, abandoning his wife and children and failing to provide for them, and preventing his wife from visiting her family without a valid reason.

The wife must advise her husband and remind him of her rights, and obey him in what is good as long as she is under his authority. This includes not leaving the house except out of necessity, an urgent need, or if he falls short in providing the obligatory maintenance.

Regarding divorce: If the husband utters the formula of divorce verbally, it takes effect. However, if it is in writing or through allusive terms, it does not take effect unless there is intent. It is advisable to consult the Sharia court to ascertain the ruling on the divorce.
