Is he who listens to music for the purpose of hypnosis or increasing intelligence committing major Shirk, given that it is the voice of Satan and seeking aid from Jinn?

We have clarified the ruling on hypnosis and the disagreement regarding the ruling on treatment with suggestive hypnosis using music if it is the only necessary treatment. It is not permissible to use it for increasing intelligence, as there are many permissible ways to do so. The use of music is forbidden but does not amount to disbelief (kufr), and its being the voice of Satan does not necessitate major disbelief. We warn against hastening to accuse of disbelief.
