The question

Is it true that the greatest dhikr is: "Subhan Allah 'adada ma khalaq, Subhan Allah mil'a ma khalaq, Subhan Allah 'adada ma fi as-samawati wal-ard, Subhan Allah mil'a ma fi as-samawati wal-ard, Subhan Allah 'adada ma ahsa kitabuh, Subhan Allah mil'a ma ahsa kitabuh, Subhan Allah 'adada kulli shay', Subhan Allah mil'a kulli shay'" and similarly for "Alhamdulillah," "Allahu Akbar," and "La ilaha illa Allah"?

The answer

The best remembrance () is "La ilaha illa Allah" (There is no god but Allah). The dhikr mentioned in the question ("Alhamdulillah 'adada ma khalaq... wa Subhanallah mithlaha" - All praise be to Allah as many times as He has created... and Glory be to Allah similarly) is great, but it has not been reported that it is the greatest remembrance, and it only includes tasbih (glorification) and hamd (praise). This dhikr was reported in Musnad Ahmad by al-Tabarani from the of Abu Umamah, and al-Tabarani's narration mentioned that he remembered Allah day and night.
