What is the ruling on frequent bathing and changing clothes due to the obsessive thoughts of madhy, manyy, and wady?
The cure for obsessive thoughts (waswas) is to disregard them and not pay them any mind. We have already explained the characteristics and rulings concerning mani (sperm), madhi (pre-seminal fluid), and wadi (post-urination discharge). So, when the characteristic of one of them becomes apparent to you, you should apply its ruling. If you doubt whether the discharge is mani, madhi, or wadi, then ghusl (ritual bath) is not obligatory upon you. Rather, you have the choice, according to many scholars, to assign this discharge the ruling of one of the doubtful substances.
