Is focusing on the accurate recitation of verses recently memorized during Qiyam al-Layl considered khushu‘ (devotional reverence), or does this focus diminish the required khushu‘?

The hardship and effort you endure in memorizing the Holy Quran is an act of worship with immense reward and recompense. The one who is skilled in the Quran will be with the noble and righteous scribes, and the one who recites the Quran haltingly and with difficulty will have two rewards.

Humility (khushu') is a meaning that resides within the soul, manifested by stillness in the limbs, aligning with the purpose of worship, and residing in the heart.

Your preoccupation with memorization during prayer does not fall under the definition of humility (khushu'). Therefore, we advise limiting your night prayers to reciting what you have mastered in memorization, so that you may be humble and ponder the verses. As for outside of prayer, dedicate time to memorizing and reviewing the Quran. In any case, you are engaged in an act of worship for which you will be rewarded.
