What is the ruling on filing and grinding teeth for cosmetic purposes, and installing crowns and veneers?

A fatwa was previously issued under number 133732 regarding the ruling on covering teeth with veneers. What does not require filing the tooth is absolutely permissible. What requires shaping and filing is permissible for patients who need it to treat a defect or remove harm. As for those who desire it merely for beautification, it is not permissible for them or the doctor to do so.
