What is the ruling on women wearing a type of jewelry that is placed on the hair and hangs down over the forehead, out of concern for imitating disbelieving women?

The basic principle concerning adornment is permissibility, unless there is a legitimate religious proof that prohibits it. Adornment placed on the hair and dangling onto the forehead is permissible, as long as it is not characteristic of disbelieving women. Otherwise, it would constitute an unlawful imitation of them, based on the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) saying: “Whoever imitates a people is one of them.” This prohibition includes both those who intend to imitate and those who do not.
