What should a Muslim do who worships Allah, prays, fasts, performs righteous deeds, and tries to avoid sins, yet has heard warnings from some scholars about shaykhs whom he once considered to have a virtue in guiding people, so that he may please his Lord?

A Muslim who is unable to discern the religious ruling through evidence must emulate someone whose religiosity and piety they trust. The mistakes of scholars do not necessitate their dismissal, for a scholar may err, and that does not prevent benefiting from him. The criticism may also be of the nature of peer-to-peer discourse, which is to be disregarded and not reported.
