Does the intention of challenge and competition with others to achieve better qualities—even if for encouragement—affect the reward of the intention for Allah, sincerity, and supporting the religion?

Striving diligently in studies with a righteous intention is an act of worship. Adhering to deadlines is a characteristic of a believer. Competing in good deeds is praiseworthy, as Allah Almighty says: "And for that let the competitors compete." (Quran 83:26) It is better for the heart to be free from comparing oneself with others and from competing with them, and for the action to be purely for the sake of Allah. Concealing good deeds is more conducive to sincerity, and this is the principle for supererogatory acts of worship. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever among you can have a hidden good deed, let him do so."
