Is there evidence from the Sunnah that it is impermissible to leave the Mushaf open without reading from it?

We do not know of any evidence that prohibits leaving the (Qur'an) open. However, it is more befitting to close it after finishing recitation, as a sign of reverence for the Book of Allah and to preserve it.
