Is taking a loan from the Dutch bank to buy a car and pay off previous debts, due to extreme need and difficult financial circumstances, considered a sin, and what should be done in this case?
It is not permissible to borrow with interest, because it is prohibited usury (riba). The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, cursed the one who consumes usury, the one who feeds it, its scribe, and its two witnesses. Nothing is excluded from this except a state of necessity that poses a danger to life or limbs, such as perishing or the loss of a limb. As for need, such as buying a car for work and running errands, it is not a necessity that permits the forbidden, as long as you can find housing, food, and drink, and you can go to work for a wage, and pay your debts, even by installments or by deferment from the creditor. One must repent, feel remorse, and resolve not to return to usurious loans in the future, unless the creditor does not grant you deferment and you face imprisonment or perishment.
