Must a Muslim understand all the Sharia evidences related to acts of worship? What is the ruling on imitating scholars without comprehending their arguments? Is heartfelt reassurance sufficient for acting upon a particular opinion when there is a difference of opinion?

Allah is not worshipped except through what He has legislated. Any action that is not legislated is rejected, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever performs an action which is not in accordance with our matter, it will be rejected." For an act of worship to be accepted, there are two conditions: sincerity to Allah, and following the Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him. An ordinary person, who does not seek knowledge of Sharia, must ask the people of knowledge, as Allah the Almighty said: {So ask the people of the remembrance if you do not know}. His responsibility is fulfilled by asking someone whose knowledge and religiosity he trusts. If there are multiple scholars, he should follow the most knowledgeable and pious among them. It is not permissible for him to follow what suits his desires, but rather he should follow what he believes is correct by following the one who is most knowledgeable and pious.
