How can a girl communicate with her relatives despite the severance of family ties?

Maintaining kinship ties is obligatory according to the Quran and Sunnah. Obedience to a father is not required if he forbids it, as that would be an evil act (munkar). The sister is advised to maintain ties with her relatives and to counsel her father and the rest of her family with wisdom and good admonition. She should not be ashamed to fulfill this obligation and to rectify this evil.
