Is a girl obligated to marry a young man who is negligent in performing prayers, on the pretext of fulfilling her promise to him, or should she refuse and wait for another young man who is religious and of good character, but whose financial circumstances are difficult?

Neglecting prayer is a sign of wickedness, and Allah has condemned those who are negligent in their prayers, whether by delaying them or by not completing their obligatory elements. It is not advisable to marry someone who is negligent in prayer, whereas poverty is a temporary condition that can change, and Allah has promised wealth to those who marry with the intention of chastity. A promise of marriage before the engagement is not binding, and one must avoid conversation and seclusion before a lawful marriage.
