Is zakat obligatory on grains if they are ground for animal feed before the crop is fully grown?

Zakat is not obligatory on grains if the owner disposes of them before they harden, such as by making them fodder or giving them as a gift, because the time when Zakat becomes obligatory on grains is when they harden.

If the owner destroys the grains before they harden, then Zakat is not due on him, unless he intended by that to escape Zakat, in which case Zakat is not waived from him.
