Is it permissible for the younger brother to disobey his older brother and live in a separate house while maintaining ties of kinship, especially since the older brother exercises excessive control over his younger brother's life based on the will of their deceased father?

An elder brother has no guardianship over his adult, sane younger brother. Therefore, the elder brother has no right to prevent him from residing [somewhere], going out, or using the phone, and obedience to him in these matters is not obligatory. Scholars have stipulated that an adult, sane individual has complete freedom in his actions. If this is the case for parents, then it is even more so for a brother. Nevertheless, the younger brother should obey his elder brother and accept his advice if it is in accordance with what is good and beneficial for him, such as memorizing the Qur’an or maintaining his physical health.
