Is it permissible to purchase an air conditioner in installments from a bank with a profit margin, provided the bank pays the value of the air conditioner directly to the seller?

It is not permissible to engage in a banking transaction that is limited to presenting an air conditioner invoice for the bank to pay the seller the price. Rather, the bank must first genuinely purchase the air conditioner for itself. Once it enters into the bank's ownership and guarantee, it is then permissible for the bank to sell it at the agreed-upon price. Presenting the invoice for the bank to pay the price is considered a loan, and any increment on it is usury (riba), which is impermissible.
