Can a vow to slaughter six livestock be changed to only three before the vowed-for matter is realized?

It is not permissible to retract a vow or replace it. It must be fulfilled because Allah Almighty has commanded it and praised those who fulfill their vows. However, if the vow was specified for a certain time and that time expired without it being fulfilled, then in that case the vow ends.
