The coupons freely given by stores to all people, or to anyone who buys a specific item from them at its original price without increase, are permissible because they are a gift or a donation and not a competition. However, if the store sells the coupons for a separate price or increases the price of the item because of them, then participation in them is not allowed, as that is prohibited gambling.
