Is seeking knowledge with the intention of accumulating money to travel to Mecca and settle there considered seeking knowledge for other than the sake of Allah, and is it advisable to complete studies with this intention or by working as an Imam in a mosque?

"Residing in Mecca and Medina is considered desirable by the majority of scholars due to the acts of obedience it entails, such as the increased reward for prayer and circumambulation (Tawaf). Some, however, disliked it out of fear of falling short in fulfilling its rights. Al-Nawawi chose the opinion that residing there is desirable unless there is a strong presumption of falling into blameworthy acts. Studying religious sciences with the intention of residing in the Haram (sanctuary) is not blameworthy because it is for the purpose of performing a desirable act. Nevertheless, working as an Imam in your country with the intention of benefiting people and teaching them may yield a greater reward due to its widespread benefit, which is what Allah prefers. Just as Allah loves noble matters, combining the work of an Imam with completing one's studies is better."
