Semen is pure, according to the preponderant opinion among scholars. The default state of things is purity, so unless one is certain that impurity has transferred, this default state remains in effect. Accordingly, the foot does not become impure merely by walking on a carpet, unless you are certain that it has stepped on a specific impurity.
