What is the duration of menstruation that is considered menses for a woman who sees brown or pink spots or yellowish discharge after the cessation of blood, and is she required to make up the days during which she doubted her purity?

If a woman has a known habitual period, then any blood, yellowish discharge (ṣufra), or brownish discharge (kudra) she sees during the duration of her habit is considered menstruation. If her habitual period ends and she sees purity (either by dryness or the white discharge (al-qaṣṣah al-bayḍāʾ)), she must perform ghusl. Any yellowish or brownish discharge she sees after that is not considered menstruation unless bleeding recurs. However, if the yellowish or brownish discharge returns during her habitual period, it is considered menstruation; otherwise, it is istihāḍah (non-menstrual vaginal bleeding).

If a woman does not have a known habitual period, then any yellowish or brownish discharge she sees after the cessation of blood is not considered menstruation. The view of the majority of scholars is that yellowish and brownish discharge are considered menstruation absolutely during the maximum duration of menstruation (fifteen days).
