Is repudiation by the tongue alone sufficient when one is capable of repudiating by hand, especially if the one being repudiated is a family member, such as a son committing a forbidden act?

A father, if he sees his child committing a forbidden act, must denounce it. He should begin with advice and admonition. If that is not effective, he must then denounce the forbidden act with his hand, as long as he is capable. He is not permitted to suffice with words unless he is unable. Changing with the hand comes first for the capable; if one is unable, then with the tongue; then with the heart. This applies to a father with his family and his child.
