The Angel of Death wept three times, so we hope for an answer?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

It has not been reported that the Angel of Death cried, except for what Abu al-Sheikh and Abu Nu'aym mentioned from Ka'b. The summary of it is that the Angel of Death was sent to Abraham, peace be upon him, to take his soul. When Isaac and Sarah saw him, they cried, and Abraham cried with them. Then the Angel of Death cried out of mercy for them and left. Abraham thought he was a guest. When Isaac learned that he was the Angel of Death, he said to his father, "Had I known he wanted me or my mother, I would not have cried, but I thought he only wanted you." Then the Angel of Death returned to God and said, "O Lord, I have come to You from a servant of Yours after whom there is no one better on earth. He has made a supplication for the inhabitants of the heavens and the earth." God said, "I know My servant best; go and take his soul." So the Angel of Death descended in the form of an old man. When Abraham saw him and asked him about his age, he mentioned an age similar to Abraham's. Then Abraham longed for death, so the Angel of Death made him smell a fragrant herb and took his soul.
