Believing that all of ablution (wudu') is obligatory does not affect its validity nor invalidate the prayer. A ritual bath (ghusl) is sufficient if one is reasonably certain that water has covered the entire body and reached between the fingers, even if they were not interlaced; for Ibn Qudamah said: "And it is not obligatory for him to pass his hand over his body in ghusl or wudu' if he is certain or reasonably certain that water has reached his entire body." And knowledge must be sought from those who are qualified.
