What is the ruling on asking scholars questions that involve ambiguities, or on ignoring them?

The people of knowledge advise staying away from pursuing doubts and occupying oneself with them, because hearts are weak and "doubts are snatchers." The imams of theaf used to turn away from hearing doubts, but if a doubt arises, it is permissible to ask the people of knowledge about it. And if one turns away from it due to his knowledge of its falsehood, then he has done well. And "do not make your heart like a sponge for objections and doubts, absorbing them until it expresses nothing else. Rather, make it like solid glass, where doubts pass by its surface but do not settle within it."
