Is a mother sinful when she severely beats her young children due to anger and a lack of self-control?

It is permissible for a father or mother to discipline their children by striking them, based on the hadith: "Command your children to pray when they are seven years old, and strike them for it when they are ten." It is stipulated that the striking should not exceed ten blows, should not be on the face or a painful spot, and the parent should not administer discipline while angry. Whoever adheres to these guidelines incurs no sin, and transgressing these limits is not permissible.
