Is it permissible to file a lawsuit against a brother for mistreating his parents, and what are the consequences of filial disobedience in this life and the hereafter?

Disobeying parents is one of the gravest sins. Allah has forbidden even saying "uff" (a word of annoyance) to them, so what about insults and curses? This is a clear sin whose punishment is feared to be hastened in this world, especially disobedience to the mother, which is an even greater sin. The disobedient brother should be advised with wisdom and good counsel, helped to find a job, and prayed for repentance and guidance, especially through the answered prayers of parents. If he does not repent, then measures must be taken to prevent him from harming his mother.
