What is the ruling on the sermon held in the house of the deceased, and is it an innovation or a recommended act?

The fundamental purpose of gathering at the deceased's home is for condolences, which are recommended. This involves encouraging the bereaved to be patient and alleviating their grief with words such as: "To Allah belongs what He has taken and to Him belongs what He has given, and everything with Him is for an appointed term; so be patient and seek reward." As for delivering sermons at the deceased's home, this should not be adopted as a required practice, as it has not been established from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. Anything that contradicts his Sunnah (definition) is a rejected innovation.
