Is it permissible to invite non-Muslims to a Muslim's home for dinner and other occasions?

It is permissible to invite a non-Muslim to the home for dinner if he is not at war with Muslims, especially if there is a kinship tie between him and a Muslim, or if inviting him is hoped to soften his heart towards Islam and win him over. This is based on the general saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "For every living being with a wet liver, there is a reward."
