What is the ruling on receiving free assistance in learning the French language from a man known to be a homosexual?

If the person in question practices sodomy, he must be shunned, expelled, and kept away from mixing with people, especially if he is a disbeliever, as he combines disbelief with the crime of sodomy. The scholars have mentioned that a effeminate man is not allowed to associate with men, and he who allows men to approach him and commits indecency is more deserving of banishment and expulsion. Such a man must be banished and expelled from homes; he should not reside among men or women. It is not permissible to seek knowledge from him, and one must avoid associating with him, while advising him and reminding him of Allah Almighty if he is a Muslim.
