The father should be advised with wisdom and gentleness, and the evilness of his character and its consequences should be explained to him, through books or by inviting someone he respects [to speak with him]. He should be occupied with what benefits him, away from idle talk. This should be done with patience and supplication for his rectification, for filial piety towards a parent is not waived due to their bad character.
