What is the ruling on swearing falsely to reconcile people if my credibility depends on it?

Lying is a grave sin, and its sinfulness increases when one swears by Allah falsely. Reconciling disputes is praiseworthy, but it is not permissible to lie to achieve it unless it is absolutely necessary to avert a great harm. It is preferable to use equivocation and insinuation instead of outright lying whenever possible. However, if reconciliation cannot be achieved except through lying, then there is no sin.
