What is the ruling regarding a man remaining married to a woman who had multiple previous relationships, when he cannot accept that?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

If the wife repents sincerely of her sins, then the husband must keep her and treat her well, and not dwell on her past; because repentance erases what came before it, and she must conceal her past and not inform anyone of her misdeeds. However, if the wife does not repent, or if suspicion arises concerning her, then it is advisable to separate from her through divorce or khul', especially if she neglects her obligatory duties to Allah or is unchaste. The man must fulfill his right of guardianship over his wife, keep her away from suspicious situations, and then have a good opinion of her.
