What is the interpretation of verse 49 from Surat Ibrahim: "Their garments will be of tar, and fire will cover their faces"?

Ibn Kathir summarizes the verse: "Their garments will be of pitch" as referring to the garments of the people of Hellfire, made of pitch, which is used to coat camels. Qatadah describes it as the most adhesive substance to fire. It may be read with a fatha on the Qaf and a kasra or sukoon on the Ta, or with a kasra on the Kaf and a sukoon on the Ta. Ibn Abbas mentioned that qitran is molten copper, and perhaps he read it as "qitran" meaning very hot copper, which was also narrated from Mujahid, Ikrimah, Saeed bin Jubayr, Al-Hasan, and Qatadah. As for "and fire will cover their faces," it is similar to "The Fire will scorch their faces, and they therein will have grimacing faces."
