Why did the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) single out the Companion Mu'adh ibn Jabal with the words, "Indeed, I love you," to the exclusion of the rest of the Companions, even though he loved them all?

Mu'adh ibn Jabal was among the great and close companions. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, bore witness to his knowledge, jurisprudence, and religiosity, and sent him to Yemen as a teacher and caller to Islam. Umar ibn al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, said: "Whoever desires jurisprudence should come to Mu'adh ibn Jabal." He passed away, may Allah be pleased with him, in the 17th or 18th year of the Hijra.

The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, explicitly stated his deep love for Mu'adh, emphasizing it with an oath, and instructed him to recite the supplication "O Allah, help me to remember You, to give thanks to You, and to worship You in the best manner" after every prayer.

The Prophet's, peace and blessings be upon him, love and its declaration were not limited to Mu'adh alone, but also included other companions, among them: the Ansar, Abu Bakr, Umar, Aisha, Al-Hasan (definition) and Al-Husayn, and Zayd ibn Harithah and his son Usama.

Indeed, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, loved all his companions, and singled out some of them with expressions of love due to their special status.
