What helps a Muslim maintain prayer is knowing its importance, for it is the pillar of Islam and the distinction between a servant and disbelief, and the first thing a servant will be held accountable for on the Day of Judgment. Allah has made abandoning it a characteristic of criminals and hypocrites. By knowing this, a Muslim's concern for maintaining it is aroused, and he should supplicate: "O Turner of hearts, keep my heart steadfast on Your religion."
